The Biological Solutions Laboratory (BSL), under the direction of Dr. Deborah Roberts, is within the School of Engineering on the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Okanagan Campus in Kelowna British Columbia. The laboratory objective is to develop solutions to difficult and unsolved environmental issues. Our achievements are the result of collaborations of faculty and students with backgrounds in the disciplines of chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering as well as chemistry and biology.
We have been extremely lucky to have received funding from many agencies. Successful funding from NSERC includes grants from the Discovery, SPG, RTI and I2I programs. Our equipment has been funded through grants from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the BC Knowledge Development Fund. We have also received funding from the BC Agri-Innovation fund and the BC Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations as well as the Regional District of North Okanagan.
